The adolescent years are a time of significant physical and emotional change. Children are discovering themselves and their place in the world, and often find these years challenging. Mindfulness is a valuable skill that can help them navigate the challenges of adolescence with ease and confidence. The practices help them develop self-awareness, increase focus and concentration, strengthen their capacity for self-regulation, and reduce anxiety and stress, so they can feel confident and more fully themselves.

In these six-class series we share mindfulness and movement practices in a fun and engaging way with our participants. The classes include yoga and movement, guided meditations, group activities, and time for reflection and sharing. We offer a safe and supportive environment for the children to explore these practices and share what's on their hearts and minds.

Topics include: Mindful Listening; Mindfulness of Breath, Body, Thoughts and Emotions; Self-Compassion and Loving-Kindness Practices.

Gayathri’s meditation class gave me a place to unwind after a stressful school day. It helped me untangle my thoughts and eased me into the night. In moments of frustration or anger I used things we learned in class, like that an emotion only really lasts for a few seconds and after that, it's just thoughts you have. Knowing this gave me more perspective on the thoughts and feelings I was having.

I did the Teen Mindfulness class with Gayathri for more than 6 months, and part of the course was observing emotions and figuring out the relationship between thoughts and feelings. These topics particularly helped me explore how much faster I could become calmer if all I did was observe my emotions effectively. Adding on to the learning aspect, the class itself was very enjoyable due to the activities, and I often felt less stressed when I came out of it.
